Potentia Pharmaceuticals is developing a portfolio of drugs that interferes with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) at different stages of its progression. Potentia has licensed its first compound to launch its pipeline of drugs aimed at AMD: POT-4. POT-4 successfully completed a Phase I clinical trial in advanced wet AMD patients in March 2009. Phase II clinical trials will focus on geographic atrophy and wet AMD patients and are expected to be launched toward the end of 2009.
